Beyonce, Husband Jay Z Names Twin As Rumi And Sir

Beyonce and husband Jay Z have named their newly welcomed twins as Rumi and Sir Carter for the daughter and son respectively.

Though the celebrity couple has not yet announced the name officially, but trademark documents filed by them to the United States Patent and Trademark Office reveals the detail.

According to PEOPLE magazine, the company of both has filed papers on Monday to trademark the apparent monikers for several products including baby gear, tote bags, water bottles, cosmetics and fragrances.

The family now has five members. They have a 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

In 2006 actress Josie Maran too named her new daughter as Rumi.

Meanwhile, a little search as to why the name Rumi and Sir for the twins, it is found both the names didn’t appear in the top 1,000 names in any year from 1900. Rumi ranked #2,956 and Sir at #1,925.

People on social media have started discussing about the names and one writes Rumi is a unisex category name with distinctly feminine origins.

In the 13th century Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi influenced literature and languages through his works. He was a Persian thinker and writer.

Sir is in fact a title for a man knighted by the British monarch.

One of the fans tweeted, “Rumi means beauty in Japanese. And Sir is an honorific address. Rumi and Sir Carter.”

Another wrote, “Rumi and Sir Carter. Okay. I was rooting for Brooklyn and Houston.”
