BREAKING: Shootout At Dhaka Restaurant. Hostage Crisis. 30 Injured

Exchange of gunfire reported between police and unidentified attackers in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh, and at least twenty civilians have been taken hostage.

Terror group men armed with grenade stated firing at a restaurant, popular with expatriates, diplomats and middle-class families, in diplomatic area of the city at around 9:15 p.m. local time.

The area has been currently sealed off by police and security forces.

Police officer Sayedur Rahman said, “Unknown number of people are still inside but we cannot confirm whether they are held hostage.”

US embassy in Dhaka confirmed the reports of shooting and hostage situation through Twitter account.

The Dhaka Tribune reported hostages are being held inside the restaurant.

Cafe owner said up to eight gunmen stormed the restaurant.
