Be well prepared for eye safety if you are planning to travel this summer and wear contact lens.

According to associate professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, Dr. Andrew Pucker, many people who wears contact lens believe to be compliant, but it is seen about 90 percent of them fail to accurately complete even a single step of their care regimen.

He added either the patients wear lenses for more than recommended days , expose it to tap water, keep overnight or else fail to abide by the cleaning instructions.

Experts say any shortcut while in travel may create new damages to the eyes or can exacerbate bad habits. Below are some tips how to remain safe if you are wearing contact lenses and are on vacation:

The first thing required is to know about your destination as in all the towns or cities you may not be able to get access to clean water or have no outlet to replace the lenses. You may also encounter pollution.

Before visiting underdeveloped countries it is suggested to leave the lenses at home as you may risk yourself with eye infection or eye irritation.

It is highly recommended to pack travel-sized bottles of solution for contact lens and also carry leak-proof contact lens cases. If possible, do take extra contact lenses with you or else a pair of eyeglasses.

Before swimming don’t forget to remove the lenses as it may cause eye infection or else use daily disposable lenses.
