ISIS Using Explosive Drones In Mosul

The Islamic State-controlled city of Mosul in Iraq has once again become challenging for the US forces. The militants group is learned lately using exploding small drones.

Two Kurdish Peshmerga fighters were reported been left dead in one incident injuring two French soldiers after a drone launched by ISIS exploded.

The Guardian reported the drone was intercepted October 2 and exploded after hitting the ground near to the Kurdish and French soldiers.

Secretary General of the autonomous Kurdish region’s defense ministry, Jabbar al-Yawar, said the drone looked like booby-trapped.

According to a report published in The New York Times, the Islamic State militants group were earlier using surveillance drones and now seems to have got the ability of using technology to an effective weapon.

It is also reported the group may use the drones for the filming of suicide car bomb attacks and previously tried deploying small bomb drones twice over the past month.

Specialist on robotic weaponry at New America, P.W. Singer, said they should have been well prepared for this too but were not.

New America is a think tank in Washington.

It is learned the explosive device used inside the drones was disguised as a battery equipped with just small amount of explosives that was enough to go off and kill few people.
