In one of the latest studies it is learned those kids who get treated with certain forms of complementary or alternative medicine are less likely to get flu vaccine.

However, it is yet to know what could be the exact reason behind this. It is assumed health care providers are hesitant recommending such vaccines.

The researchers said some of the complementary or alternative medicine practitioners may even advise not to get flu vaccination for the kids.

It is found those kids who have been recommended complementary or alternative medicine has lower odds of getting vaccinated for flu.

Researchers studied information of 9,000 US children between the age group of 4 and 17.

About 8 percent of the kids were found using biologically based therapy like the herbal supplements, 7 percent using manipulative and body-based therapy like the chiropractic manipulation, 5 percent using a mind-body therapy like yoga, and 4 percent using alternative medical system like acupuncture. The study was led by William Blesser, a researcher in health policy and administration at Pennsylvania State University. He said more research is still required in the segment to find why children having certain types of alternative treatments may require less flu vaccine.
