North Korean Threatens US And South Against THAAD Deployment

North Korea has threatened the US and South Korea to be making a physical response to the THAAD anti-missile system if deployed on the Korean peninsular.

THAAD is Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system that can counter the nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities of the north. The US and South Korea said on Friday to be soon deploying the system. It was shortly protested from China saying the move was based on conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the South Korean President Park Geun-hye said the system was purely to focus at countering the North Korean threats and not intended to any third country.

On Thursday the US Treasury Department blacklisted the North leader Kim Jong Un on the ground of human rights abuses.

The North frequently threatens to attack the interests of both the nations in Asia and the Pacific.

In a press statement the North said, “There will be physical response measures from us as soon as the location and time that the invasionary tool for U.S. world supremacy, THAAD, will be brought into South Korea are confirmed.”

Selection of the site to deploy the system to come within weeks, said South Korean Defence Ministry official adding it may be operational by 2017-end.
