More than 200 teenaged schoolgirls were abducted by the group on 14th April 2014 from Government Girls Secondary School at Chibok who were preparing for science exams.

A total of 276 girls were seized but dozens managed to escape the storming in the first hours. However, 219 went missing since then. They remained captive.

The 19-year-old woman, who was 17 when abducted, is the first to be found since the incident that grabbed worldwide attention.

After her return one of the founders of the Bring Back Our Girls movement Oby Ezekwesili tweeted, “God reigns! OUR #ChibokGirl … IS BACK!!!!!!! #218ShallBeBack because #HopeEndures.”

Conflicting reports have emerged after the young woman has returned. She was found by hunters in the Sambisa forest and taken to her home in Mbalala with her baby.

The woman’s uncle Yakubu Nkeki said her father died while she was in captivity.

Nigerian military claims they have rescued the woman along with the baby and has also detained a Boko Haram suspect who may be her husband.

Army spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman said, “This is to confirm that one of the abducted Chibok school girls … was among the persons rescued by our troops.”
