It is usual saying sitting will kill you. However, a new study does not agree to this. It says body movement is important either you are doing sitting job or standing job.

Sitting Job No Longer Poses Death Risk If Walking, Exercise Included- Study

Details of the finding are published in Tuesday’s edition of the International Journal of Epidemiology. It writes sitting is not associated with increased risk of death.

Researchers from the University of Exeter and University College London claims if a person is physically active, long hours of sitting won’t increase the risk of an early death.

More than 5,000 people were studied for a period of sixteen years, one of the longest follow-up studies in related research.

The new finding challenges the earlier research work that says sitting for long hours causes harm even when walking and exercise are included in the daily routine.

NHS had also recommended remaining seated for long is not good for health even if exercise is included.

The new study overturns the NHS recommendation and says any stationary posture whether sitting or standing poses risk to health.

Earlier study in 2010 published in the American Journal of Epidemiology writes sitting for more than six hours every day increases the mortality rate by 18 percent.
