The John Magufuli government has expelled UNDP country head Ms. Awa Dabo alleging she had poor relations with her colleagues and this has resulted with the hampering of the organization’s services.

The Foreign Ministry released a statement in local language Swahili revealing the government’s decision is based on Dabo’s bad relations with colleagues which has impacted negatively on the activities of UNDP in Tanzania.

The statement further adds, “The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, would like to ask UNDP to remind its staff that its priority must be to work with the government to achieve the development objectives.”

A UNDP spokesman has confirmed security escort has helped Dabo leaving the country and the Tanzanian government is being contacted on such issues.

An unnamed source added Dabo has been framed for criticizing the rerun of presidential election in Zanzibar in March 2016.

The 2015 election was cancelled by election commission in the Tanzanian semi-autonomous archipelago alleging the poll was not free and fair.

The opposition boycotted the rerun and claims probably they were on the winning race.

International observers too criticized the rerun of presidential election in Zanzibar.
