Welcome Immigrants Based On Merits: Trump

Donald Trump seems to be in the cleansing mode and this is the reason his remarks on Thursday against Haiti immigrants have sparked anger from Democrats and even from some of the Republicans.

The president was discussing on protecting immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries with the lawmakers.

He said, “Why we are having all these people from shithole countries come here?”

Trump added that it is better to welcome people from countries like Norway. On Wednesday he had a meeting with the Norwegian prime minister.

He mentioned people even from Asian countries contribute to the growth of United States and so need to be more open to such immigrants.

The president continued, “why do we need more Haitians?… Take them out.”

Following the 2010 earthquake Haitians immigrated United States in thousands. Now, after about seven years of stay they have received a warning from Trump to return their home by July 2019.

The remarks of Trump was like a shock to lawmakers. However, a press release from White House put the point that Trump is fighting for the people of America and not for that of foreign countries like some of the politicians.

White House added that the president is fighting for permanent solutions to make United States stronger and immigrants would be welcomed based on the merits so that they can contribute to the society.
