Following the death of a couple under unclear circumstances in a hotel at Red Sea resort of Hurghada in Egypt tour operator Thomas Cook started evacuating all the customers.

The British couple, 69-year-old John Cooper and 63-year-old Susan Cooper, from Burnley in northern England was on a holiday with other family members and stayed at the Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel.

Kelly Ormerod, daughter of the couple, was with them along with her three children. It is learned John died in the hotel room while Susan was taken to hospital.

Ormerod said her parents were fit and healthy prior the holiday began. They even had no health problems.

Thomas Cook evacuated 301 guests of various nationalists from the hotel as a precautionary measure and a statement from tour operator writes all the holiday makers will be offered alternative hotels. They may also have the option to return home.

The statement adds, “We continue to work closely with the hotel and are supporting the authorities with their investigators.”

Those holiday makers who will be arriving in next four weeks will be offered alternative options.

Meanwhile, rumors spread in the media suggest the couple may have been died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. However, there is no such evidence to support such speculation, writes Thomas Cook.

Investigation is under progress. The couple died on Tuesday. Red Sea governorate official statement said forensic examination reveals the two suffered acute circulatory collapse and a sudden cardiac arrest.
