This may lead to lower prices to consumers of products sold by Amazon and confirmation of fast delivery too.

Undoubtedly Amazon has for long tried plowing its profits back into its business investments. In the latest foray the online retail giant has invested in opening new distribution centers and leasing fleets of trucks.

Last May the company was reported to have leased forty Boeing jets from Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings and Air Transport Services Group Inc. The fleet was named as Prime Air.

Amazon has continued outpacing retail sales over past few years and lately its data reveals number of items sold through its online shelve in the fourth quarter increased by 24 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

It is learned the revenue in the same quarter rose by 22 percent to $43.74 billion. However, the expectations of analyst were slightly missed.

Profit too increased by 36 percent to $749 million, or $1.54 per share.
