Russian Defense Ministry has come up with couple of announcements lately and this is being seen as the aftermath of summit meet between United States President Donald Trump with counterpart Vladimir Putin. It is also follow-up to the speech of Putin earlier this year in March about progress on weapons.

The military is undergoing testing process to several new weapons including those of nuclear ones too ranging from a high-powered laser weapon system to a nuclear-powered cruise missile with “unlimited” range.

The ministry confirmed Burevestnik cruise missile is being tested and flight tests may kickoff soon. It is also learned use of Peresvet high-powered laser weapon system is being used and trial launching of Poseidon underwater nuclear drone will also take place.

A day before White House rejected Putin’s proposal to allow Russian officials to interrogate a former US ambassador and other American citizens saying the idea is an incredible offer.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said, “It is a proposal that was made in sincerity by President Putin, but President Trump disagrees with it.”

The latest statement from Sanders makes thing clear that such deal with Russia was not in the cards and probably the 12 identified individuals need to come to US to prove their innocence.

Amid such tension with the West Putin has sought to flex Russia’s muscle, but latest announcements came as the Russian leader stressed the need for talks with Washington on nuclear arms control treaties.
