Lately the company has been seen phasing out contracts. With the start of 2016 it will stop offering to its regular customers. However, businesses will be able to use the service.

The individual customers will henceforth have two options. Either they can buy the smartphone paying the full price tag money or rend the device until to trade it for a new handset in 1.5 to 2 years time.

Under the rental plan scheme users need to pay a fee for the smartphone apart from paying the monthly voice and data charges.

The rental plan of AT&T is dubbed as Next and 30 percent of the company’s customers use it.

Meanwhile, the other leading service providers too are following the same policy. T-Mobile has ended the contracts completely and Verizon is slowing phasing it out.

With the end of contracts the true cost of devices is being revealed and customers to realize the high price of those. Earlier the smartphones use to hit the stores at a much subsidized price with the help of contracts.
