The terror group fired indiscriminately from the back of three trucks on the outlying village while people were seen fleeing. A woman detonated bomb going into crowd.

The attacked area is near to the Giwa Barracks, a major military based that has been attacked several times in the past. Last year in January the group attacked and freed hundreds of detainees from the base.

The Nigerian military has also been accused of killing detainees in great number at the base.

Earlier, on Christmas Eve, the Boko Haram militants invaded Kimba village in Borno state killing more than a dozen innocent people and torched several homes.

The militants have also carried out cross-border raids in Niger, Cameroon and Chad.

Meanwhile the National Christian Elders Forum called on the Federal Government to maintain non-aligned status in international politics, ideologies or religion.

Signed by Chairman Solomon Asemota the statement explains the coalition could encourage current security challenge in degenerating into Sunni-Shiite conflict in the country.
