Bomb Targeting Police Bus In Istanbul Killed 11, Injured Dozens

During morning rush hour, at about 8:40 a.m. local time, of Tuesday the Vezneciler area of Istanbul’s historic Faith district rocked with a bomb blast targeting a police bus that killed eleven people, including four civilians, and injured 36 others.

State media reports four people have been detained until now. No group has yet claimed credit of the bombing and investigation was ongoing.

It is reported the blast was remotely detonated. Local media footage showed security personnel at the scene of the blast and also visible damage to vehicle and buildings.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered his condolences and visited some of the injured in the hospital. He said the attack was unforgivable and the country will continue the fight against terrorism fearlessly.

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim condemned the attackers for their act during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

He said it is once again evident the attackers are enemy of human values.

Condemning the bombing the French President Francois Hollande said the act of attackers confirm their mutual determination to fight all forms of terrorism.

The attack was condemned by United States and Germany.

The US Embassy in Turkey said they stand should-to-shoulder with Turkey in the fight against terrorism.

In past one year Turkey has been attacked several times by militants of ISIS and Kurdish.

Earlier this year in March a car bomb killed 37 people in capital Ankara. The Kurdish militant group had claimed responsibility of the attack.
