BREAKING: Taliban Fighters Launches Attack On Kandahar Airport

Taliban has launched an attack on Kandahar airport little while ago and clashes are still underway. The Afghan forces are firefighting with them.

According to Kandahar provincial governor spokesman the Taliban militants managed breaching the front gates early Tuesday and taking position in a nearby school complex.

Taliban has claimed responsibility of the ongoing attack saying several suicide attackers have stormed the airport.

No casualties have yet been reported from the attack.

A pro-Taliban website writes the insurgents have launched the attack against domestic and foreign forces.

This is the second major assault in less than 24 hours. An earlier incident Tuesday two suicide bombers stormed a police station in Kandahar triggering an all-night firefight with police. Three officials were wounded in the gunbattle. The two attackers were killed too.

In recent months, after the death of its chief Mullah Mohammad Omar and naming of his successor Mullah Akhtar Mansour, attacks in Afghanistan has increased. So far over 50 people have been killed and dozens other injured.
