The plan for building a mega stadium in Tanzanian capital Dodoma is underway and President John Magufuli said lately the construction will start soon.

The statement of Magufuli came on the occasion of 53rd Anniversary of the Union between Zanzibar and Tangariyika.

Addressing to hundreds and thousands of people at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma the president added that good progress has been made to start the construction and this will be the biggest of its kind in Tanzania.

In October 2016 the King Mohamed VI of Morocco pledged in his visit to the country to be building an ultra modern stadium in the capital and thereafter several Moroccon companies made agreements with the domestic private sector companies for the cause.

The construction of new stadium coincides with the massive push of the government to transfer people and services from Dar es Salaam to the new city.

It is learned the new and the largest stadium to cost somewhere between 80 and 100 million USD. It will be better than the current National Stadium in Dar es Salaam too.

The Dar es Salaam stadium was largely financed by China.

The president continued whole sport sector will be improved with the new stadium in the capital and the country will be in a good position in hosting world events like Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
