Dyn Discovered Internet’s Infrastructure Attack For United States Early Morning

Friday was a sad day for many websites and most of the people across United States as the internet’s infrastructure was under attack.


Sporadic problems were reported by several uses reaching some websites such as Twitter, Reddit, Spotify, Airbnb, Netflix, Etsy, SoundCloud and even The New York Times.

Dyn, the company that manages crucial parts of the internet’s infrastructure, said jsut after 7 a.m. a distributed denial-of-service attack was noticed by its security experts and many sites were found inaccessible on the East Coast first and short spread westward.

Dyn’s servers monitor and reroute internet traffic.

The company added attack was also seen later on hundreds of thousands of internet-connected devicces such as home routers, baby monitors and cameras too as all were infected without the knowledge of users.

Hackers infected the devices with software to command flood of target with overwhelming traffic.

Meanwhile, it is learned Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security are finding the causes of the incident even with the angle of criminal activity.

Chief strategist of the Manchester-based company, Kyle York, said they have been targets of powerful attacks.

He added, “The number and types of attacks, the duration of attacks and the complexity of these attacks are all on the rise.”

There are several companies that host DNS (Domain Name System) and Dyn is one of those that functions as a switchboard for the internet.
