Google Maps app has just been updated and with it users are facilitated to book Uber, Lyft and other rides too.

The massive upgradation for Android and iOS is announced for across the globe as a New Year gift to make easier booking a ride directly from Google Maps.

According to Senior Product Manager of Google, Sara McKinley Torti, the company is also looking ahead to integrate new feature to the map that can allow booking a ride as well as paying for the concerned trip without leaving the platform.

McKinley added such integration will be possible even without the dedicated ride hailing apps like that of Uber, Ola and Lyft.

Signing into related ride hailing companies’ account users will be able to track and connect the driver from within the Google Maps. Riders will also get information about their concerned destination too after starting the journey.

Google has always modified its Maps app by adding new and exciting features since its inception and the latest upgradation is one such trend.

Google Maps was launched about a decade ago on February 8, 2005. In 2012 it was learned more than 7,100 employees and contractors worked directly in mapping. In 2014 the search engine giant launched Google Underwater Street view too.
