Google may soon help users of its Maps app to save data. It has started testing the new feature that would allow data to be downloaded through a Wi-Fi connection only.

According to the search giant the feature is meant for those users who are with limited data plans.

The new mode can be found in the settings menu. Check for it in the place of “Offline areas” option there. Enabling the feature the Maps app will warn user about a small amount of mobile data may still be used in it.

The new feature will be helpful to users who are in publicly connected areas and enjoy super fast free Wi-Fi internet such as areas like the New York City.

Google has not yet officially announced the new feature, but The Verge writes the mode is being tested and it may be rolled out in future more broadly depending on the feedbacks.
