Ivanka Trump will soon be shutting down her fashion brand and it is learned from a report published in the New York Post that staff have been informed to be laid in near future. In 2007 she started with a jewelry line and later expanded with the inclusion of handbags, shoes, clothes and accessories as well.

Currently Ivanka serves as a senior advisor to the White House and she was widely criticized for getting leverage in business. However, as a good response to such criticisms she separated herself from the company in 2017, but after winning several trademarks in China lately the debate has again been ignited.

The trademarks came just ahead of the announcement of her father, President Donald Trump, to attempt reversing an American ban on a Chinese telecom company, ZTE, which was on the verge of shutting down if the decision had been formalized.

More to all these, the fashion brand faced criticism of poor working conditions too. Her factories are spread in China, Bangladesh and Indonesia. A media report earlier revealed employees in the Indonesian factory are paid one of the lowest in Asia.

Labor activists made a complaint about such abuse at a Chinese factory and this resulted with disappearance of Ivanka’s products from the market. In the complained some major violations at the site were also mentioned like lower wages and women’s rights violations.

Ivanka said, “When we first started this brand, no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve…After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington. So, making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”
