Following repeated efforts to make the doctors end ongoing strikes the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced a lucrative offer of KSh 10 billion citing the 2013 CBA has not been registered and hence is null.

More than three thousand doctors are on strike for past three months demanding implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that was agreed on in 2013.

Kenyatta said his government is committed in improving the welfare of the doctors in the country and cited installation of medical equipment to improve the condition in medical sector.

Announcing the new hike in payment he added the lowest paid doctor will earn a KSh 56,000 salary increment, and this is something more than fair.

However, it is not yet confirmed whether the doctors will be accepting the so-called lucrative offer and the end the strike to the earliest.

The doctors had earlier said it is better to serve jail time rather than to end the strike, which is the worst of its kind in the country.

All the earlier efforts of the government failed to making the doctors return back to work. Even the efforts of religious leaders to convince the doctors ending the strike didn’t work.
