Lahore Market Rocked By Bomb Blast; 8 Killed, Dozens Injured

In less than a fortnight Pakistan has suffered ten terror attacks and the latest is Thursday’s Lahore blast that killed at least eight people and injured more than two dozen.

A bomb exploded in a market crowded with people including children. Smoke and dust were seen coming out of a building that was under construction and under which the bomb was planted.

Police confirmed it to be a bomb attack in the provincial capital. Four people died on the spot and four others in the hospital.

Locals said panic spread and people started exchanging messages including fake ones like general curfew is applied in the city and shoot-on-sight orders have been issued.

On February 13 a bomb attack in Lahore killed fourteen people and another ninety people were left dead in a devastating Sufi shrine blast in Sindh province.

Most of the attacks have been claimed by the Islamic State, the so-called ISIS militants group of Syria and Iraq. Some of the blasts have also been claimed by Pakistani Taliban terror group.

The Pakistani military announced a nationwide anti-terrorist operation on Wednesday.

The popular Pakistan Super League is scheduled to be held next month in Lahore, the second largest metropolis of the country.

In 2009 Sri Lanka cricket team were attacked in Lahore.
