The social media giant added the usernames and passwords of the accounts were not obtained from any data breach at their end and they have already been working with users to keep their accounts protected.

According to a site with a search engine of leaked login credentials, LeakedSource, a copy of user information has been received by them from “[email protected]” and the same credentials were used by those users who gave it hacked data from Russian social network VK few days before.

It is also reported accoounts of Myspace and LinkedIn users too have been compromised.

LeakedSource said the data contains email address, usernames and passwords as well.

Earlier this week the Twitter account of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg too was hacked, but it is claimed he had reused “dadada” as his password on several sites.

LeakedSource reveals the most popular password in the data received by them is “123456” and “password.”
