Nigeria Army Raids UN Compound To Search Boko Harama Hidden Members

The hunt for Boko Haram is still going in even after Nigerian government officially said earlier the nation is free from such terrorism. The military raided today compound of United Nations in the northeast part of the country citing search of members of the Islamist militant group.

The Nigerian security forces raided the building in Maiduguri city, which is the epicentre of Boko Haram’s insurgency.

It is believed the raid could damage relationship of Nigeria with the United Nations and other aid groups.

According to the Nigerian military, raid was made in about thirty properties including the compound of United Nations as a source hinted members of Boko Haram have been hiding in the area.

Residents in the area said army arrived with about ten military pick-up trucks and two armoured vehicles. They asked all the people to leave the place and started searching properties for bombs and anyone hiding.

The security forces added they had not targeted the property and the operation was successfully concluded.
