Nigerian President Mihammadu Buhari released a victorious statement Saturday claiming to have finally crushed the Boko Haram extremist group and their fighters are on the run and no place to hide.

He added the army will now locate the Kidnapped Chibok girls and free them who are still in captivity.

In 2014 the terror group attacked a girls boarding school in Chibok and kidnapped more than 200 of them.

In 2016 the Nigerian army has freed thousands of Boko Haram captives, but the Chibok girls were not included in it. In October 21 girls were freed through negotiations brokered by Swiss government and International Red Cross. Earlier this year in May one Chibok girl escaped on her own from the group’s hold. As of now some 197 of them are still missing.

Boko Haram gained control of northerneastern parts of Nigeria in 2009 and since then has killed over 20,000 people and about 2.3 million people have fled.

United States too warned about 5.1 million people are in danger of starving in the stronghold areas of Boko Haram as the places have become dangerous to reach for aids people.

Meanwhile, an attack on an army barracks on Thursday in the northeastern Yobe state indicated the presence of terror group has not ended and soon deadly suicide bombings, village attacks and assaults on military outposts could be seen.
