North Korea is believed to have fired two Musudan intermediate-range missiles Wednesday morning (local time) from its port city of Wonsan in the eastern coast.

South Korea’s Unification Ministry spokesman Jeong Joon Hee said the North has violated treaty and it is a clear provocation towards them as it was a ballistic missile technology launches.

The US Pacific Command Dave Benham said both the missiles were tracked over the East Sea (Sea of Japan) and believed to have fallen there.

He added the missiles did not pose any threat to North America.

According to Japanese defense minister Gen Nakatani, the security of their country was not affected with the launching of a missile, but immediate meetings have been called to take measures in protecting Japan.

Nakatani commented immediately after the launching of first missile.

The missile tests meanwhile has been condemned by the US State Department saying they are monitoring the situation and continues assessing it in close coordination with regional partners and allies.

In a released statement the US said it would defend its allies.

US State Department spokesperson John Kirby said, “We remain prepared to defend ourselves and our allies from any attack or provocation.”
