Islamophobia following 9/11 attacks is to be blamed for New Zealand mosques massacre, said Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The PM tweeted, “This reaffirms what we have always maintained: that terrorism does not have a religion. Prayers go to the victims and their families.”

Similar voice is also being raised from a top Muslim organization in United Staets putting blame on president Trump for increase in Islamophobia.

Executive Director and co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights and advocacy groups, Nihad Awad, said in Trump’s presidency rise in Islamophobia, attacks on innocent Muslims and innocent migrants has been seen.

Gunmen opened fire at worshipers on Friday at 2 mosques in Christchurch and killed 49 people.

Eyewitnesses said multiple shots were fired inside the mosque and the gunmen were wearing a helmet, glasses and a military style jacket.

One of the witnesses said, “He had a big gun and a lot of bullets and he came through and started shooting like everyone in the mosque, like everywhere, and they have to smash the door and the glass from the window and from the small door to try and get out.”

City Mayor Lianne Dalziel said she was shocked beyond words by the two mosques attacks.

Meanwhile, Trump tweeted condolences about the attack and said US stands by New Zealand for anything they can do.
