Researchers from Finland studied data of more than 12,000 Finish babies from zero to 24 months of age and said the steroid drugs need to be used with caution in pre-school children as they may not achieve the potential of the length at later age.

Couple of past studies too found link between asthma treatment and growth of height among children.

Asthma is treated with ingested corticosteroids (ICS). It comes in inhaler form and is generally used among adults. However, these days asthma is also common among the younger ones. It is one of the substantial problems for kids across the world. About 10 percent of the babies in UK suffer with bronchial asthma.

The new study was presented at the 54th annual meet of European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology held recently in Spanish capital Barcelona.

The researchers have warned doctors about the side-effects of asthma treating steroids even though it noticeably reduces the sanatorium travels. It is said to use with caution.

Further research is required to find an alternative to asthma treatment drugs among children.
