Italy was struck with a massive earthquake last week that killed 292 people and the hardest-hit town was Amatrice. Hundreds of homes collapsed too and many became unsafe to inhabit.

According to the police, the pair is in their 40s and are alleged to have stolen about 300 euros cash, clothing and other items.

Meanwhile, it is also learned some people are sleeping in their cars parked near their homes in fear of getting looted.

Besides the looting incidence, an Italian bishop said Pope Francis was jolted awake by the quake and went to celebrate a Mass for people suffering in the catastrophe.
