Scotland Wishes To Stay With EU Following Brexit

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants Scotland to remain in the European Union following the Brexit, exit of Britain.

Speaking outside her official residence in the capital Sturgeon said they will be having talks with the EU institutions and also with other EU members about exploring all the possible options in protecting the country’s membership.

Scotland Wishes To Stay With EU Following Brexit

The minister said, “A second independence referendum is clearly an option that requires to be on the table, and it is very much on the table.”

The Scotland rejected independence in the 2014 referendum by 55-45 percent vote. However, on Thursday’s vote when the United Kingdom was decided to leave the EU, the Scotland voted to remain by 62-38 percent.

Meanwhile, the European Commission said Scot was part of the UK.

EU diplomats said the Scotland is to face hurdles to join a bloc that has been already consumed by Brexit.

One of the senior EU diplomats said, “We have other problems on our heads right now than feeding Scottish nationalism.”

If Scotland is separated from Scotland, there will be end of shared statehood and upending another successful economy.
