Spanish Bullfighter Gored To Death During Festivity On Live TV

A bullfighter in Spain died during a bullfighting and love broadcast on television on Saturday. Medics attended immediately but were unable to save him.

The 29-year-old Victor Barrio was gored twice by a bull weighing 1,166 pounds. He was first flipped over by the left horn and thereafter again a blow penetrated his lung and aorta while he lay on the ground.

The professional matador was pronounced dead by a surgeon at the Teruel bullring.

News of Victor’s death stirred widespread reaction across bullfighting community, well-known politicians and almost everyone.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy tweeted, “My condolences to the family and colleagues of Victor Barrio, the deceased bullfighter this evening in Teruel. Rest in Peace.”

Participants at the San Fermin festivities in Pamplona were saddened along with prominent bullfighter Enrique Ponce.

Following his death the festivities in Teruei were suspended.

Victor debuted in 2010 at the Madrid bullring in Las Vegas. A heartfelt remembrance for him was posted by the venue.

Last time such incidence took place was in 1985 in Madrid. Frenchman Jose Cubero Yiyo, 21, was fatally gored.

In 1992 Manolo Montollu and Ramon Soto Vargas were fatally gored in Seville.
