Finally Taliban too has confirmed the death of their leader Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, who has been lately claimed by Washington to have been the target of American drone strike.

With the death of Mullah Mansour names of new leaders have been revealed. Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada, who was earlier deputy of Mullah, is now the new face to lead the Taliban. Mullah Muhammad Yaqoub and Sarajuddin Haqqani have been chosen as his deputies.

Yaqoub is the son of Mullah Muhammad Omar, the previous Taliban chief whose death was acknowledged last year in July.

Mullah Mansour was killed on Saturday by American drone strike in a restive Pakistan province.

After the death on Saturday, as confirmed by US President Barack Obama, the Taliban’s spokesman maintain tight lips in the matter as his burial and successor were to be discussed.

The first meeting is learned to have been held at the home of Mawlawi Haibatullah in Quetta. Sources say he was a voice guiding to the discussions of succession and not played a front-runner role for leadership.

With the announcement the Taliban attacked outskirts of Afghanistan capital Kabul and targeted a van that was on route to Wardak Province carrying employees of an appellate court. Ten people were killed and four others were injured.
