President Donald Trump said North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has agreed to resume talks on the nuclear program.

Briefing to the media following his meeting with Kim he said both the leaders have designated teams to restart stalled discussion within weeks.

Trump added speed is not the object when both the nations are trying to get the job done and so it is the time to get it right.

The 50-minute minute of Trump and Kim was first time face-to-face after the failed summit in Hanoi earlier this year in February. It was the second summit. They first met last June in Singapore.

Even though both the leaders had a closed-door meeting for about an hour, Trump said the sanctions on North Korea are still in place.

Trump added the sanctions can be scaled back accordingly with the renewed negotiations.

The two met at the Demilitarized Zone. This was the first visit of Trump to it.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis has praised the duo’s meeting saying, “In the last hours, we have assisted in Korea a good example of a culture of dialogue.”

He added speaking at Sunday Angelus Prayer held in St Peter’s Square in Rome that it is a step further towards walk of peace in the peninsula and also in the entire world.
