Royal Navy warship is to be sent by the United Kingdom government to Mediterranean to tackle the smuggling of arms in Libya.

Announcing the latest move at G7 summit in Japan the UK Prime Minister David Cameron said they are well prepared to take the role of an active leadership in helping out the Libyan government in dealing with migration crisis as well as people trafficking.

Until now the HMS Enterprise survey vessel of the country is operating in the area and for the new move an UN approval is being expected so that it could seize boats carrying arms to Islamic State.

The European Union (EU) is currently running a mission in the area and it is called Operation Sophia.

The new Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya is learned to have asked for more assistance from the operation recently. The request was related to training of navy and coastguard as well as help in stopping of human trafficking of migrants.

Cameron added Libya is a danger to everyone and they are working closely with the EU to tackle the problems.

He further said, “Once the relevant permissions and UN security council resolution are in place I will deploy a naval warship to the south central Mediterranean to combat arms trafficking in the region.”
