Securities have been beefed up across major cities of United States after the deadly terror attacks in the French capital Paris that killed about 150 civilians.

According to New York Police Department (NYPD), extra force has been deployed in crowded areas which are frequented by tourists and also at the French Consulate in Manhattan.

The top target is believed to be the September 11 World Trade Center attacks site that killed about 3,000 innocent people.

The NYPD has not revealed the number of extra officers deployed.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the tunnels, bridges and rail facilities too have been put on high alert with extra patrolling and checking up of all the buses, trains and passenger bags.

The US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said even though there is no specific threat and not like that of Paris that occurred Friday night.

The law enforcement and transportation agencies too have said they have are on high alert too. Similarly the US Capitol Police in Washington has boosted up forces around the complex.

A fashion show at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., took place as scheduled, but with a moment of silence to honor the Paris victims.
