More than 300 people have been lately killed in Angola due to worst yellow fever outbreak in decades. Congo has declared an epidemic in its capital and two other provinces too.

WHO said the areas where the vaccination campaigns are to be launched next month are high levels of movement and trade and hence with immune buffer the disease could be prevented from spreading further.

Currently there are no vaccine in Congo and a new stock are being called by WHO of more than 1 million doses and this would take weeks to arrive.

This year, until now, 6 million doses have been used to immune people in Angola, Uganda and Congo. Experts believe if there are simultaneous outbreaks in populated areas the stock would not be enough.

Kinshasa, with 12 million people, is a major concern of the disease as the city has poor health services, much stagnant water and humid climate.

Between May 26 and June 4 more than 2 million people is reported to have been vaccinated in Congo and about half of them in the capital.
