Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) officials said the spread of the virus out of Latin America and in Asia and Africa is a matter of concern and it constitutes a global health emergency.

It is yet to be understood whether the virus would spread as explosively as it did in the Americas. It is also not being predicted whether the virus would cause a fresh wave of birth defects as well as side-effects including paralyzing Guillain-Barre syndrome.

WHO still does not know whether the Zika virus could be perfectly tracked as it spreads into countries having poor healthcare systems.

WHO’s emergency committee chairman Dr. David Heymann said, “There’s still an urgent need to continue global research and this still does remain an emergency of international concern.”

Heymann added extraordinary event is becoming rapidly an ordinary event and the virus is continuing to cause outbreaks in many countries.

The first case of Zika virus in Singapore was seen just a week ago and now the number has been mounted to more than two hundred.

Singapore is a small city-state, just about two-thirds in size compared to Washington D.C. Local spread of the virus is seen and said to be carried by the same mosquitoes that spread dengue virus.
