Apple’s Office Environment Is Sexist, Toxic: Female Employees

Some leaked emails reveal Apple has a sexist and toxic work environment in the office. Male coworkers are revealed cracking joke about rape.

Several unidentified female employees of the iDevice giant claim to have become the victims of toxic atmosphere. The male coworkers are alleged to have such conveyed feelings that women are nags.

Fortune reports one of the female employees claim the male employees joked about possibility of a man entering the office to rape everyone.

Repeated complaints were made to managers and thereafter the concerns were escalated to CEO Tim Cook.

The leaked emails are said to have been obtained by Mic’s Melanie Ehrenkranz. In one of the emails from Danielle to Cook it is read, “Rape jokes in work chat is basically where I completely draw the limit… I do not feel safe at a company that tolerates individuals who make rape jokes.”

However, according to Danielle the Apple CEO never responded to the concern.

Ehrenkranz claims to have obtained over 50 pages of emails exchanged between several Apple current as well as former employees and those had discussions about discrimination and harassment at workplace.

Last week an article on Mic noted men spoke for about 99 minutes on stage at the Apple event and weomn had only 8 minutes. There were lot of diversity during the launching of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in San Francisco.
