In Seoul, it’s been revealed that some products for kids sold on Chinese shopping apps could be harmful. The Korea Customs Service (KCS) discovered high levels of chemicals that can cause cancer in 38 items sold on platforms like AliExpress and Temu.

These products, including toys and accessories for children, were tested by the KCS. Shockingly, 27 of them contained a chemical called phthalate plasticizer at levels much higher than safety standards in South Korea. Phthalates can cause cancer and other health problems, especially in kids.

Even worse, six of the products had cadmium, which is very dangerous and can cause cancer too. The levels were thousands of times higher than what’s safe. Additionally, five products contained lead, which is harmful to health.

What’s concerning is that these products are easily available for South Korean customers to buy without proper safety checks. They’re sold directly from sellers, bypassing import rules.

The government is taking action to stop these harmful products from coming into the country. They promise to tighten checks at customs and keep testing products to ensure they’re safe for kids.
