Foxconn will be building up the manufacturing facility with tech display company sharp that it acquired in 2016.

Foxconn CEO Terry Gou said commitment of the company to the deal depends on investment conditions.

The Taiwan electronics maker had earlier hinted seeking US soil for expansion. In December 2016 Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son said to be investing $50 billion.

However, the $7 billion investment is Foxconn’s own investment.

During US presidential campaign Donald Trump warned he would force Apple to make its iPhone and iPad in the US and not in Asian countries.

It is also learned up to 50,000 jobs will be created in the US with the new plant.

Financial magazine Nikkei Asian Review reported last year in November revealing Apple has asked Foxconn to explore manufacturing iPhones in the US.

Foxconn is one of the biggest employers in China and most of the Apple’s iPhone devices are assembled at the company.

Foxconn is headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
