Launched last year, the YouTube Kids was widely criticized for the way the child-friendly version of YouTube’s service handled advertisements. Amid such situation Google today announced add-free version of it.

Google Launches Ads-Free YouTube Kids

With the launch of ad-free version parents can now opt for an ad-free experience if bundled with the YouTube Red subscription program.

The YouTube Red subscription program is a paid version of the platform that offers several premium features including background play and offline videos apart from no paid ads.

Announcing the new service Google said the YouTube Red has now an extension to the YouTube Kids application and this enables several premium features for the kids to enjoy such as saving the videos to watch in future where connection is not available and paid ads will disappear.

Currently the YouTube Kids app will work with the Red subscription in the US, New Zealand and Australia.

Meanwhile, critics and watchdog organizations argue that removing paid ads may not fully address the complaints as the issue was not just the paid advertisements alone but the subtler, paid endorsements that video creators for the platform didn’t disclose.
