Seeking asylum in Qatar the Emirati prince Sheikh Rashid bin Hamad al-Sharqi revealed his life is in danger in United Arab Emirates following dispute with the rulers of Abu Dhabi.

The 31-year-old prince is second son of emir of Fujairah and arrived in Doha on May 16. He accused the rulers of money laundering and blackmail without backing his statement with any evidence.

Fujairah is one of the seven monarchies in the UAE and Abu Dhabi is the capital city as well as the richest emirate.

The prince briefed to New York Times saying there has been not only 100 UAE war deaths as publicly reported. He talked about tensions within Emirati elites over the troops commitment in the war in Yemen.

In June 2017 the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt had ended all the ties with Qatar, which has later denied all such accusations claimed by the Emirati prince.

Qatar is the largest exporter of liquified natural gas in the world.

According to New York Times this is the first time in the long 47-year long history of UAE that a member of the seven royal families has criticized the rulers publicly.
