Sony’s PlayStation VR pre-orders kicked off Saturday at Japanese retail stores. The device however won’t be released until this October.

Japanese newspaper Mainichi News writes about 500 people waited at the Yodobashi Camera store at Akihabara in capital Tokyo and hundreds lined up in Osaka too.

Tokyo is known for longest such lines.

It is learned by Friday night, 10 p.m., about fifty people had lined up to pre-order the PlayStation VR at the Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara.

The Yodobashi Camera store in Tokyo’s Shinjuku ended up the pre-orders at around 1:20 a.m. finding enough people lining up to claim the allotted units.

Yamada Denki store in Ikebukuro ended the same at 2 a.m. past Saturday as it will only get 280 units of the device.
