The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria said the issue of Aleppo is highly crucial and vital too. If a solution is not found by December, the city will not be there anymore, said Staffan de Mistura following a meeting with European Union (EU) foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

Mistura added Aleppo should not be forgotten while the world is keeping an eye on Mosul. The priority should not be confused.

International community should not let Aleppo become Moadamiyah or Darayya as it is equally an iconic and a speical symbol.

The warning came amid planned unilateral ceasefire in the city. Airstrikes of Syrian Air Force as well as that of Russian Aerospace Forces have stopped from 10 a.m. local time.

Russian Ministry of Defense’s Facebook page posted a statement reading, “The long-term suspension of airstrikes is necessary to introduce a ‘humanitarian pause’ on October 20.”

Witnesses said no bombing has been heard Tuesday in Aleppo.

The unilateral ceasefire will allow residents to flee through six available corridors.

The statement further added, “We’re calling on the leadership of the countries who have influence on the armed groups in the eastern part of Aleppo with a proposal to convince their leaders to stop military actions and leave the city.”

Meanwhile, on Monday 20 members of the same family were killed in airstrikes over the rebel-held east of Aleppo.
