About three dozen people have been killed and many others burned badly in an explosion Wednesday morning in the outskirts of Mexico City that ripped through the best-known fireworks market that was well stocked for the holidays.

Mexico State chief prosecutor Alejandro Gomez said the toll may rise as eleven people are still missing and rescue team has found some body parts at the scene.

Among the dead some died at local hospitals as they were badly burned.

Among the identified dead one is a 3-month-old baby boy and the other a 12-year-old girl apart from seven other male minors.

More than seventy people are being treated for injuries, said State Health Secretary Cesar Nomar Gomez Monge.

Some of them are even burned more than 90 percent, added Monge.

Since 2005 this is the third such blasts at the market.

Meanwhile, Mexico State Gov Eruviel Avila said the investigation team will identify the person who is responsible for the explosion at the market.

One of the shoppers said, “Everything was catching fire. Everything was exploding. The stones were flying, pieces of brick, everything was flying.”
