US, China need to cooperate: Xi to Trump

Cooperation is the best policy for both Washington and Beijing. History is evident and to mark 40 years since establishment of diplomatic relations Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated counterpart Donald Trump.

Last month both the countries agreed trade ceasefire for 90 days to pave way for fresh talks and try to end disputes between them.

The Chinese president said relations between the two nations have experienced ups and downs and over the past four decades they have made historic progress.

Xi added, “History has proved that cooperation is the best choice for both sides.”

Trump reciprocated congratulating Xi saying it was his priority to build up good US-China relations.

Over the weekend the two leaders had telephonic discussion related to trade deal to which Trump defined as a long and very good call.

Later this month, Trump and Xi to have a face-to-face meeting and discuss about trade deals. Ahead of it, on Wednesday, the Chinese prime minister is to have public appearance at an anniversary-related event. He will be talking about self-ruled Taiwan, a sacred territory of China, as claimed. He will mention key policy statement about relations with the island.

This June marks 30 years anniversary of the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstration at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
