Trump defends his abrupt decision to withdraw troops from Syria, Afghanistan

President Trump defended on Friday his decision of US troops withdrawal from two war-torn countries – Afghanistan and Syria. Citing his presidential election campaign he tweeted that a total mess in the two nations was inherited by him equipped with unlimited spending and such Endless Wars must come to an end.

A day before Republican-led Senate voted in favor of a nonbinding amendment drafted by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to oppose abrupt troop withdrawal.

According to Trump’s tweet United States spend $50 billion annually in Afghanistan and after about 18 long years people are now talking about peace.

About Syria the president said soon the ISIS Caliphate will be completely destroyed and Washington to watch the happenings closely and so it is the right time to start withdrawing troops.

Trump abruptly announced late last year to be withdrawing troops from Syria arguing the ISIS has been defeated.

However, Trump’s intelligence chiefs said ISIS still remains a threat in Syria and Defense Secretary James Mattis resigned on the same note.

There are currently 14,000 US forces in Afghanistan and some 2,000 in Syria.

Earlier this week the US intelligence chiefs broke with the president contradicting his foreign policies saying the ISIS has not been defeated.

In reply the president tweeted, “Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school.”
