In one of the latest studies it is found drinking alcohol is directly linked to cause of cancer. Details of the report are published in the Addiction scientific journal.

The study is based on several major reviews of past ten years and reports of several organizations including the American Institute for Cancer Research, World Cancer Research Fund and the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

It is revealed about 6 percent of global deaths due to cancer can be due to consuming alcohol.

If believed to professor of epidemiology at the University of Otago in New Zealand, Jennie Connor, in the year 2012 it is found alcohol may have been the cause of about half a million deaths from the disease.

The published report on Thursday adds strong link could be established between alcohol consumption and cancers at colon, liver, esophagus and female breast as well. The skn, pancreas and prostate could also not be left out in connecting with alcohol.

It is yet to understand how the alcohol causes cancer.

According to Connor, who was the author of the latest study, those women who consumed alcohol between 70 and 140 grams a week experienced a 13 percent increase in breast cancer compared to those women who drank less than 20 grams per week.

It is also added the heavy drinkers of alcohol may have a higher risk of colon, liver and laryngeal cancer.
